We have showers and storms on the increase out there today. This action is ahead of a very strong cold front ready to plow across the bluegrass state on Friday. This will bring another big blast of fall temps our way, and this one is likely to hang around for a while.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, there&#8217;s a price to be paid as we are going into a pretty wet setup through the first half of August.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s begin with today and roll forward. Showers and storms go up in clusters, with the best chance for strong storms in the north. Any boomer that&#8217;s out there can produce torrential rains, leading to some local high water issues. If we can get some sunshine ahead of this line, the local severe weather threat will increase. Damaging winds would be the main player. Here&#8217;s the Friday severe weather outlook from the Storm Prediction Center&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/public\/state\/images\/KY_swody2.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The showers and storms will push out of the region this evening as VERY cool air surges in from the northwest. Check out the temperature anomalies from the NAM&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=24293\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-24293\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-24293\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/NAM.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"786\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A mix of sun and clouds will be noted on Saturday and the NAM is about as cool as you will ever find on an August day with sun.
