I wanted to drop by for a quick update on the potential for a tropical system to form in the Gulf and impact our late weekend weather.<\/p>\n<p>This is something we&#8217;ve talked about for a few days now, and the models are picking up on the potential.<\/p>\n<p>The setup will feature a cold front working toward the state by Saturday. At the same time, a tropical system is likely\u00a0cranking in the Gulf of Mexico. That front would then pick up the named storm and bring it northward toward Kentucky.<\/p>\n<p>The GFS shows this system moving right on top of Kentucky&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=24893\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-24893\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-24893\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/GFS-2-2.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"786\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Canadian looks very similar&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=24889\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-24889\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-24889\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/CANADIAN.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"786\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The European Model has been struggling of late because of such a deep trough across the west. This is the one big flaw with the model, as it is usually too slow with ejecting these systems eastward.<\/p>\n<p>The European Model never gets the trough and the tropical system together, thus keeping the system just to our east&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=24890\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-24890\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-24890\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Euro-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1259\" height=\"986\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Euro-1.png 1259w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Euro-1-300x235.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Euro-1-768x601.png 768w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Euro-1-1024x802.png 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1259px) 100vw, 1259px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This will be something for us to watch very closely in the coming days, as this setup could result in heavy rains around here. IF we get rain from this tropical system, it would be the 4th of the season to do so. That&#8217;s pretty amazing.<\/p>\n<p>I will have the full update later tonight.
