It has been a rainy and stormy daddy day across the bluegrass state as our stormy weekend continues. Rounds of strong and severe thunderstorms have delivered a heck of a blow to some areas over the past few days.

Rain totals have been heavy with much of the state picking up on, at least, an inch of rain. Some areas have totaled more than 4″ of rain since Friday night as this wet pattern we have been targeting for a long time comes to fruition. It isn’t done just yet as more rounds of thunderstorms will be likely this afternoon through Monday.

The first target area is across southern Kentucky where a TORNADO WATCH is now out until 8pm EDT. Here is the watch outline and the latest warnings…

<\/A>

Outside the watch… additional thunderstorms will begin to blow up this afternoon into this evening and another round or two of severe storms is possible tonight into Monday.

I am already watching the next system set to arrive late Tuesday into Wednesday. This will be a very potent cold front that should be a big time severe weather maker from the plains into the Ohio Valley. In addition to the severe chances… a lot of tropical moisture will be drawn northward from the Gulf of Mexico and this should produce more hefty rain totals.

A shot of much cooler air will then sweep in for the end of the week. Speaking of temps… where are all those 90s this weekend some other folks were beating us over the head with?

This isn’t last summer folks… and won’t be anything close!
