I wanted to drop by for a quick update on today&#8217;s cold front and the longer range look for the end of the month.<\/p>\n<p>The front continues to plow through the state with a few showers and thunderstorms out there&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/builder.zoomradar.net\/zoomradar_weather_map\/weather_page.php?key=9nNfA2mOMDiJ4LG\" width=\"560\" height=\"462\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" seamless=\"seamless\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Winds are gusting to 35-40mph at times and the temp drop is awesome to see. Readings drop into the upper 50s behind the front as it swings through.<\/p>\n<p>That sets us up for a chilly few days ahead of us, with the potential for patchy frost to develop. The Hi Res NAM continues to be the coldest model I&#8217;ve seen&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=25066\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-25066\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25066\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/NAM-7.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"869\" height=\"598\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/NAM-7.png 869w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/NAM-7-300x206.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/NAM-7-768x528.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 869px) 100vw, 869px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The week ahead looks absolutely awesome with temps slowly warming into the 70-75 degree range by end of the week into the start of the weekend. A cold front may bring some showers and storms our way by Sunday into Monday.<\/p>\n<p>From there, it&#8217;s all about a deepening trough likely to dig into the eastern part of the country for the week leading up to Halloween&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=25062\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-25062\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25062\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/GFS-3-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"760\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/GFS-3-2.png 760w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/GFS-3-2-300x207.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 760px) 100vw, 760px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That happens as a ridge goes up the west coast of North America, while blocking develops near Greenland. That pushes cold air into the eastern half of the United States and can sometimes be introduced by a big storm.
