We have a much colder setup across Kentucky as we kick off a brand new week. This chilly brand of air may produce some patchy frost out there over the next couple of mornings. I&#8217;ll focus on that and the end of the month pattern that will try to make things interesting.<\/p>\n<p>Highs today are generally in the upper 50s across the central and east, with 60-65 in the west.<\/p>\n<p>Clear skies, low humidity levels and light winds will team up to allow temps to drop into the upper 30s for many areas by Tomorrow morning. The colder valleys may drop into the low and middle 30s, leading to some frost on the pumpkins.<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday looks awesome with highs in the 60s under mostly sunny skies. A few mid and upper 30s may show up again by Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the week sees the amazing fall weather rolling on as temps slowly warm. We should be in the 70s into the start of the weekend, but a cold front likely crashes in from the west by Sunday or\u00a0 Monday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=25078\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-25078\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25078\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/GFS-9.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"926\" height=\"489\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/GFS-9.png 926w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/GFS-9-300x158.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/GFS-9-768x406.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 926px) 100vw, 926px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s an interesting setup with a decent front dropping in and an upper level low spinning to our southwest. Two things could happen with that&#8230; It could get swept up into our region&#8230; Or it could head into the Gulf and form some type of hybrid system.<\/p>\n<p>Later next week into the closing days of October could feature a deep trough digging into the eastern half of the country. This is something we have talked about for many days now, as the pattern favors this&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=25077\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-25077\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25077\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/GFS-GIf-6.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"786\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Another teleconnection for this deep eastern U.S. trough comes from the western Pacific. That&#8217;s where we have a typhoon being forecast to recurve&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=25076\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-25076\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25076\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Hurricane-plots-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"799\" height=\"599\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Hurricane-plots-2.png 799w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Hurricane-plots-2-300x225.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Hurricane-plots-2-768x576.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 799px) 100vw, 799px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>At the same time, we see the PNA going positive and the NAO going negative&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=25079\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-25079\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25079\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/PNA-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"861\" height=\"457\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/PNA-2.png 861w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/PNA-2-300x159.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/PNA-2-768x408.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 861px) 100vw, 861px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A positive PNA sends a ridge up the western part of North America, allowing cold air to filter into the east. This graphic illustrates what I&#8217;m talking about&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=25080\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-25080\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25080\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/PNA.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"435\" height=\"714\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/PNA.png 435w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/PNA-183x300.png 183w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 435px) 100vw, 435px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Negative NAO throws some blocking into the mix near Greenland, also helping to send colder air into the eastern half of the country.<\/p>\n<p>Just how cold and how prolonged all this is remains to be seen, but winter weather\u00a0loves have got to love the look of the pattern as we head closer to winter.<\/p>\n<p>I will try to update things later today, so check back.<\/p>\n<p>Make it a good Monday and take care.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Good Monday, everyone.
