Good Saturday to one and all. Showers and thunderstorms will become very common across the state today as we kick off a stormy weekend. Rounds of showers and storms will move in as the nose of the heat begins to push into parts of the Ohio Valley.

Before we get to the storm tracking tools… here is a breakdown of where we are going…

– Thunderstorms will pack a punch today with damaging winds and large hail possible.

– Rounds of storms will carry is into Sunday with the greatest coverage across central and eastern Kentucky.

– Rain totals for many should top 1″ this weekend with local amounts up to 3″ possible. Any area getting in on repeat thunderstorm action may see some high water problems.

– The heat is pushing the storms through the region and will finally take over for the start of the new week. Monday and Tuesday will see temps around 90 or a little better.

– The stage is being set for another big change for the middle and end of next week as some very cool air moves into the plains states. This should fuel an outbreak of severe storms from the plains into the Ohio Valley. Temps by the end of next week into the following weekend will take a big dip around here and across much of the country.
