The upcoming pattern continues to look VERY busy and VERY cold as we get ready to end October and usher in November. Cold shots are lining up, with the potential for an early season taste of winter weather showing up across the region.<\/p>\n<p>To kick things off, we have a potent storm system rolling in here later Sunday and Monday. That system is already throwing some clouds our way, with a few showers and storms across far western Kentucky&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/builder.zoomradar.net\/zoomradar_weather_map\/weather_page.php?key=9nNfA2mOMDiJ4LG\" width=\"560\" height=\"462\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" seamless=\"seamless\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Low pressure develops to our southwest on Sunday and rolls across the state Sunday night and Monday. This will bring heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and gusty winds&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=25221\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-25221\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25221\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/GFS-16.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1261\" height=\"983\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/GFS-16.png 1261w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/GFS-16-300x234.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/GFS-16-768x599.png 768w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/GFS-16-1024x798.png 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1261px) 100vw, 1261px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The rainfall potential from this system is impressive. This looks like a general 1&#8243;-3&#8243; rainfall to much of the state, with locally higher amounts possible. Strong northwesterly winds will create numerous showers&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=25218\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-25218\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25218\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/GFS-2-8.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"834\" height=\"981\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/GFS-2-8.png 834w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/GFS-2-8-255x300.png 255w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/GFS-2-8-768x903.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 834px) 100vw, 834px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Temps by Wednesday stay in the 40s for highs. Lows drop into the 30s and should go below freezing by Thursday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Winds will be gusty as temps recover some by Thursday and early Friday. This is ahead of a colder push of air arriving for the weekend. Hmmm<\/p>\n<p>The overall pattern continues to show similarities to November of 2014. A few\u00a0days ago,\u00a0I outlined the super typhoon connection from that year to this year as a potential indicator of where this setup may lead us.<\/p>\n<p>Just take a look the endless troughs digging in here through the first week of November&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=25217\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-25217\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25217\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/GFS-2-7.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"638\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That spells\u00a0COLD&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=25220\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-25220\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25220\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/GFS-GIf-11.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"696\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If the pattern plays out as it appears to, it would be hard for us not to get the first flakes of the season at some point by the first few days of November.<\/p>\n<p>I will update everything again tonight.
