Good Friday everyone and welcome to what is sure to be a very stormy weekend for much of the state. Rounds of showers and thunderstorms will come calling over the next few days and these will likely pack a hefty punch.

The setup for the next few days finds the heat ridge to our southwest bubbling northeastward toward the region. We will be on the cusp of the heat and clusters of showers and thunderstorms will become quite common around the outer edge of the hottest air. That will put us directly in the line of fire for strong and severe thunderstorms through Sunday. These repeat thunderstorms will also put down torrential rains leading to 1″-3″ totals for many across central and eastern Kentucky.

Things should get started today with thunderstorms blowing up throughout the Ohio Valley. Damaging winds and large hail will be very likely with the strongest storms and the Storm Prediction Center has much of the region in the risk for severe storms…
