A powerhouse of a cold front sweeps across Kentucky today, bringing some wild weather to start the weekend. We have a huge temp crash, gusty winds, heavy rain and some snowflakes impacting the region into early Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The front is on the move today with 60s\u00a0to near 70\u00a0ahead of it and temps dropping into the upper 30s and low 40s behind it. That drop then quickly rolls eastward through tonight and into Saturday. Wind chill temps will be in the 20s at times through Saturday night.<\/p>\n<p>What about the snow chances? The NAM keeps bringing a switch to a mix of even a period of light snow to parts of central and western Kentucky overnight into Saturday morning. Here&#8217;s the area it&#8217;s currently highlighting&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=25382\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-25382\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25382\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/NAM-19.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"543\" height=\"334\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/NAM-19.png 543w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/NAM-19-300x185.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 543px) 100vw, 543px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The GFS throws up the white flag of surrender to the NAM and is now showing a band of mix and light snow behind the front&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=25390\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-25390\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25390\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/GFS-snow-4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"679\" height=\"330\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/GFS-snow-4.png 679w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/GFS-snow-4-300x146.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 679px) 100vw, 679px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>These match up with the areas I&#8217;ve been highlighting for the past few days&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25372\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/special-1.png\" sizes=\"(max-width: 786px) 100vw, 786px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/special-1.png 786w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/special-1-300x184.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/special-1-768x471.png 768w\" alt=\"\" width=\"786\" height=\"482\" \/>The SREF is actually spitting out percentages on some accumulations during this same time&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=25385\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-25385\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25385\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/SREF-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"492\" height=\"294\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/SREF-1.png 492w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/SREF-1-300x179.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 492px) 100vw, 492px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In order to get some slush on the grass or rooftops, it would have to snow pretty darn hard. At this\u00a0point,\u00a0I can&#8217;t rule it out for a few spots in western and central Kentucky.<\/p>\n<p>A few flurries may then fly across the region Saturday night into early Sunday morning. Sunday is another cold one across the region with 40-45 degree highs in the central and east.<\/p>\n<p>The Halloween forecast looks chilly with temps in the 40s for the little ones making their candy rounds. A shower or two is possible in the west and southwest.
