Our run of mild weather continues, but the focus of the forecast is on a true winter pattern taking shape as we head into December. It&#8217;s a pattern that has the full confidence of the teleconnections , analogs and forecast models. Your friendly weatherdude also approves this message. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>Before we get to that point, we have some mild days and a late week system to track.<\/p>\n<p>Temps remain mild through Wednesday with a mix of sun and clouds.\u00a0 Those clouds increase early Thursday with gusty showers quickly entering the picture. Those are with a system pushing through here into Friday, bringing temps back down&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=26094\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-26094\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-26094\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/GFS-2-18.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"754\" height=\"490\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/GFS-2-18.png 754w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/GFS-2-18-300x195.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 754px) 100vw, 754px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A few of the models are trying to pick up on another system crossing the region over the weekend, developing a bigger storm near the east coast&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=26097\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-26097\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-26097\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/GFS-3-6.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"754\" height=\"982\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/GFS-3-6.png 754w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/GFS-3-6-230x300.png 230w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 754px) 100vw, 754px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s probably being overplayed on the GFS.<\/p>\n<p>Temps bounce back this weekend into Monday as winds turn back from the southwest. That southwest flow is ahead of our big pattern change moving in here next week.<\/p>\n<p>As major blocking goes up well to our north, it forces a deep trough to develop and lock in across the eastern half of the country&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=26095\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-26095\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-26095\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/GFS-3-2.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"638\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The European Model is now crashing this cold air in here with a potent system late Monday into Tuesday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=26099\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-26099\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-26099\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Euro-24.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"841\" height=\"988\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Euro-24.png 841w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Euro-24-255x300.png 255w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Euro-24-768x902.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 841px) 100vw, 841px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Euro then brings a clipper through the region by the middle of next week&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=26101\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-26101\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-26101\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Euro-2-22.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"930\" height=\"492\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Euro-2-22.png 930w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Euro-2-22-300x159.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Euro-2-22-768x406.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 930px) 100vw, 930px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s all happening a little faster than I think , but the overall idea looks good. That overall idea matches the all the Ensembles and brings a massive trough underneath major blocking. This is an animation of 24 hour increments from the European&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=26102\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-26102\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-26102\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Euro.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"638\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Look at the cold showing up in that trough&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=26100\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-26100\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-26100\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Euro-2.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"638\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>What about snow chances to go with all that cold? Look&#8230; I&#8217;m sure there will be chances, but there&#8217;s nothing specific to point to from this far out.<\/p>\n<p>As I&#8217;ve been discussing, climatology suggests all this falls in the period when we typically get our first snowfall across much of the region.
