Good evening, my fellow weather weenies. Our action-packed Christmas weekend is just around the corner, with Mother Nature and Old Man Winter ready to steal the show. From the potential for heavy rain to accumulating snows… We have you covered.<\/p>\n

Before we get to that point, some showers are out there this evening. Those showers are mainly across the south…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

It’s the southern half of the state that gets the most rain on Wednesday, with a sharp cut off across the north.<\/p>\n

Our Friday cold front marches slowly across the state, allowing for low pressure to develop along it. This brings heavy rainfall into our region, with the potential for local high water issues. The European\u00a0 model shows some very amped up rain totals through early Saturday…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The GFS is finally correcting toward this same idea…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Winds will also be a big player as the cold air surges in here Friday night and early Saturday. 40mph or greater gusts will be possible. Thunderstorms may flare up, too.<\/p>\n

Temps crash from west to east on Saturday with that first round ending as some mix or light snow.<\/p>\n

That front then stops just to our east on Sunday, allowing for another wave of low pressure to develop and roll northeastward along it. The European Model continues to get a littler snowier around here for Christmas Eve and Day…<\/p>\n

Let’s watch that trend and see if the models continue to get a little stronger with that wave. Here’s the snow map from that run…<\/p>\n

The new GFS has… Nothing. Literally… Nothing anywhere in the east…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Is that possible? Only if the Polar Vortex moves in and absolutely crushes everything with bitter cold. As of now, it’s the GFS verses the other models.<\/p>\n

Lots of changes are still to come with the models.<\/p>\n

It is interesting to note, all the models show a developing winter storm working across much of the country later next week…<\/p>\n

Obviously, that’s a long way out, so we will just file that away in the “interesting” folder. We have to still figure out what exactly goes in the “White Christmas” folder, first. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
