Good Saturday everyone and welcome to the weekend. Things are starting off on a very toasty note across the state today as temps head toward the low 90s for many. The heat will get beaten back to the south and west over the next few days as the threat for showers and storms increases.<\/p>\n

Let’s start you off with tracking the torrid temps…<\/p>\n

The heat today will bring a friend to the party… high humidity. These two will hook up to bring our “feels like” temps into the mid and upper 90s at times. Western parts of the state map top 100 degrees in that category. If you are going to be outdoors for an extended period of time… slow down and take some breaks and drink plenty of water.<\/p>\n

We will watch the northwestern skies later today for the threat for some showers and storms working in. The best chance will come this evening and overnight and a few storms could be strong or severe. The best risk for this will be in the far north. Here is where the Storm Prediction Center is watching…<\/p>\n

The heat will only make a quick hit and run across much of the region today before it works back to the west and south into early next week. Rounds of showers and thunderstorms are likely to be working northwest to southeast along the eastern periphery of the heat ridge. A few of these will roam across our part of the world.<\/p>\n

That is some wicked heat across the plains and deep south over the next several days. It is likely to make another run at us for the middle and end of next week before we begin to see the pattern across the country change up some.<\/p>\n
