Snow showers and flurries continue to fly, as bitterly cold air keeps control of our weather. These snow showers have been putting down light accumulations, leading to some snow covered roads.<\/p>\n<p>These snow showers continue off and on through tonight across, especially eastern and southeastern Kentucky. At the same time, a streak of light snow targets the western half of the state. The Canadian Model has done great with this setup and shows both systems well&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=27283\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-27283\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-27283\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Canadian-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1100\" height=\"536\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Canadian-1.png 1100w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Canadian-1-300x146.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Canadian-1-768x374.png 768w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Canadian-1-1024x499.png 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1100px) 100vw, 1100px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Additional travel issues will be likely in these areas through early Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Once again, the bitter cold steals the show&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Brutally cold temps show up for Friday and Saturday mornings. Lows range from -5 to +5 with wind chills dropping into the -5 to -15 range. Those numbers are into the danger category.<\/li>\n<li>Highs Friday and Saturday are mainly in the teens.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The evolution of the Sunday\/Monday system continues to be a work in progress on the models. The actual low passes by to our south, so we aren&#8217;t getting some big southwesterly push of air in here. The models continue to erode the arctic air out way too quickly. Still, the Canadian Model has the mix potential&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=27282\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-27282\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-27282\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/canadian-1.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"786\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>With the frozen ground, things can get icy in a hurry, even if your air temps gets above freezing.<\/p>\n<p>I will update that potential on WKYT-TV starting at 4pm and with your evening update.
