As rain rolls across the state today, major changes are on the way for the upcoming week. Our halftime of winter is coming to an end, and Old Man Winter is ready to start the second half with a long return for a touchdown. I&#8217;ve got a blowout post to cover it all. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s rains will increase from west to east, with several hours of steady rain likely for any one location&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/builder.zoomradar.net\/zoomradar_weather_map\/weather_page.php?key=9nNfA2mOMDiJ4LG\" width=\"560\" height=\"462\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" seamless=\"seamless\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Local amounts of greater than a half inch are likely through the first half of Sunday. That&#8217;s when the rain ends across the southeast, with some sunshine showing up across the region.<\/p>\n<p>Another cold front then slides in here late Sunday night into Monday, unleashing a cold northwesterly wind. That wind will create rounds of snow showers and flurries through early Tuesday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=27842\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-27842\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-27842\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/GFS-snow-3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"855\" height=\"946\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/GFS-snow-3.png 855w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/GFS-snow-3-271x300.png 271w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/GFS-snow-3-768x850.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 855px) 100vw, 855px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Light accumulations are a good bet during this time, especially across the mountains of eastern Kentucky.<\/p>\n<p>As we head toward the second half of next week, our winter storm signal continues to show up for the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys.<\/p>\n<p>An arctic front moves in and slows down, allowing a storm system to develop along the front. This system should have ample moisture to work with and much of that falls in the colder air. Just how strong this system gets, is still to be determined, so we still have a lot of time to watch it.<\/p>\n<p>That said, we continue to see amazing agreement from all the models.
