After a small break in the action, another winter weather maker is on the way tonight into Super Bowl Sunday. This is a system that can bring a slushy snowfall and a wintry mix to much of the Commonwealth.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a breakdown of what I&#8217;m expecting:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A wintry mix and snow develops across the west late this evening, then increases as it rolls eastward overnight.<\/li>\n<li>A healthy band of wet snow will develop on the leading edge of the main precipitation shield.<\/li>\n<li>Slushy accumulations of\u00a0a coating to a few inches will be possible for many areas, with the greatest risk across the northern two-thirds of the state.<\/li>\n<li>There is even the potential for a touch of freezing rain in some of the cold valleys of eastern and southeastern Kentucky early Sunday morning.<\/li>\n<li>The snow and mix will change to light rain for a time, then end quickly by the middle of the day on Sunday.<\/li>\n<li>Temps then crash late Sunday, with another round of light snow diving in from the northwest.<\/li>\n<li>Snow showers and flurries continue across the east into Monday morning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Hi Res NAM shows the above scenario quite well&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=28054\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-28054\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28054\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/NAM.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"786\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Snow<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=28056\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-28056\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28056\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/NAM-4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"801\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/NAM-4.png 801w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/NAM-4-300x288.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/NAM-4-768x736.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 801px) 100vw, 801px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Freezing Rain<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=28055\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-28055\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28055\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/NAM-3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"795\" height=\"765\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/NAM-3.png 795w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/NAM-3-300x289.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/NAM-3-768x739.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 795px) 100vw, 795px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The system rolling in for Tuesday and Wednesday continues to look more and more interesting as we get closer. It&#8217;s a stronger storm system starting to track a littler farther south and east with each model run. That&#8217;s actually been the winter trend for just about each system we have tracked this go around, bucking the historic trend for our region.<\/p>\n<p>The Canadian Model is farther south, placing the fence right on top of us&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=28060\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-28060\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28060\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/CANADIAN-1.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"786\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The European Model was way north with the last run, but came way south and east this run.
