The heavy rain train is slowly working out of Kentucky, with a taste of winter coming in behind it. That may lead to some pockets of travel issues by Monday morning. As we look ahead to the week ahead, I see another flood threat taking shape.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s begin with the setup out there today. A 30-35 degree temperature drop is occurring behind the cold front working east. As that cold air moves in, things begin to slow down in terms of precipitation. That&#8217;s great news, as parts of southeastern Kentucky have picked up more than 5&#8243; of rain. Extensive flooding is underway in many areas.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the radars to track the remaining rains&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/builder.zoomradar.net\/zoomradar_weather_map\/weather_page.php?key=9nNfA2mOMDiJ4LG\" width=\"560\" height=\"462\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" seamless=\"seamless\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Cold air continues to press in through tonight, with a band of wintry weather developing across the central and east&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=28266\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-28266\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28266\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/NAM-3.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"783\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That may put down some VERY light accumulations in a few spots, leading to some slick spots developing. Overall, this really isn&#8217;t a big deal.<\/p>\n<p>Leftover showers will be noted for Tuesday, but another increase in rain begins Wednesday and carries us through Friday. Heavy rain and thunderstorms will be likely, with a switch to snow possible by late Friday. This will be followed up by a few more active systems.
