Good afternoon, everyone. It’s a spring-like afternoon across Kentucky, with temperatures hitting 70 degrees or a little better. With the spring temps, comes the potential for thunderstorms, and a few could be strong. This kicks off a very wet next few days that can bring a renewed high water threat.<\/p>\n

Scattered showers and storms will be noted in many areas this afternoon and evening, but we are watching for a line of storms to develop to our north. That line drops in, bringing the potential for high winds and some hail. The SPC has the low-end severe storms outlook…<\/p>\n

Heavy rains will that line of storms may cause some high water issues before the line transitions into a shield of moderate to heavy rain as it keeps moving through.<\/p>\n

The front bringing the rains will slow down, allowing another low to develop along it. That moves in on Saturday, with a renewed round of heavy rain. This may target some of the same areas of the south and east, hard hit by recent flooding.<\/p>\n

The Canadian has some 2″+ amounts in the southeast through Saturday…<\/p>\n

The NAM is also showing some 2″+ rains, but centered more along Interstate 64…<\/p>\n

Given the wet ground and swollen waterways, I would think this requires a flood watch for much of central and eastern Kentucky.<\/p>\n

Rounds of showers and storms then target the region for much of next week, but we need to focus on the systems rolling in for the next few days. Let’s do just that with your tracking tools…<\/p>\n
