Winter weather is moving back into the region tonight, bringing the potential for a slushy snowfall to parts of the region. This kicks off a weekend where we will also be on guard for another potential winter weather maker on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s take the first system and concentrate on it out of the gate. Rain develops by early evening, with a band of wet snow developing along the northern and eastern edge of this. A narrow corridor of heavy wet snow will show up, but the exact placement of this is still tough to hone in on.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s my call for snowfall&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=28830\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-28830\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28830\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Special-2-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"463\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Special-2-2.png 625w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Special-2-2-300x222.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 625px) 100vw, 625px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You will notice I&#8217;ve added some notes to the snow map. I&#8217;m going to start doing this will all future snow maps to avoid confusion.<\/p>\n<p>Not everyone in the forecast areas will actually reach the totals, and a few may exceed them.<\/p>\n<p>A Winter Weather Advisory is out for much of central and eastern Kentucky&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=28832\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-28832\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28832\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Warnings.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"368\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Warnings.png 368w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Warnings-300x183.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 368px) 100vw, 368px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The NAM continues to be at the high end of the snow forecast&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=28829\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-28829\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28829\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/NAM-8.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"926\" height=\"617\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/NAM-8.png 926w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/NAM-8-300x200.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/NAM-8-768x512.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 926px) 100vw, 926px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Hi Res isn&#8217;t too far behind&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=28828\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-28828\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28828\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/NAM-2-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"903\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/NAM-2-1.png 903w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/NAM-2-1-300x199.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/NAM-2-1-768x510.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 903px) 100vw, 903px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The GFS is similar, but has\u00a0 MUCH more narrow snow\u00a0band&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=28827\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-28827\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28827\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/GFS-Snow-4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"926\" height=\"613\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/GFS-Snow-4.png 926w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/GFS-Snow-4-300x199.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/GFS-Snow-4-768x508.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 926px) 100vw, 926px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>With all of the above maps, you can clearly see the sharp cutoff on the northern and southern edges of this thing.<\/p>\n<p>Whomever gets the snow will be dealing with a very wet snow which can cover roads for a time. This action will quickly move away early Saturday, with a lot of melting ensuing.<\/p>\n<p>Our next system on Sunday is not being handled well by the models. The new GFS is more spread out with the system&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=28826\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-28826\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28826\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/GFS-GIf-13.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"786\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Canadian Model came north and is stronger than earlier runs&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=28835\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-28835\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28835\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/canadian-6.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"786\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Hi Res NAM only goes out far enough to capture the early stages of this system, but it&#8217;s pretty far north with the low into southeastern Kentucky&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=28836\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-28836\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28836\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/NAM-4.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"742\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>My concern is, all of a sudden on Saturday, we see the models show converge on a stronger system into southeastern Kentucky.<\/p>\n<p>The south option is very much on the table, but the north option has better odds at the moment.
