I&#8217;m very close to pulling the trigger on a full blow Winter Storm Threat for late Sunday into early Monday. I&#8217;ve talked about our system likely coming a little farther north on the models, and we are seeing that happening right now.<\/p>\n<p>Still, I&#8217;d like to see additional model runs this afternoon and evening before going &#8220;all in&#8221; on this system.<\/p>\n<p>Here are my preliminary areas to watch and some thoughts&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=28862\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-28862\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28862\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Special-2-3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"832\" height=\"443\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Special-2-3.png 832w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Special-2-3-300x160.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Special-2-3-768x409.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 832px) 100vw, 832px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You will notice I put the &#8220;High bust potential&#8221; on there. That goes both ways. If this system is stronger and farther north, that would be a lot more snow. If the system is weaker and farther south, forget about snow.<\/p>\n<p>The morning runs of the GFS and NAM both went all in on our storm, but disagree on placement and track. Here&#8217;s the GFS&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=28857\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-28857\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28857\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/GFS-GIf-16.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"786\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is ONLY a model snowfall forecast from the GFS&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=28858\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-28858\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28858\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/GFS-12.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"799\" height=\"770\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/GFS-12.png 799w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/GFS-12-300x289.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/GFS-12-768x740.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 799px) 100vw, 799px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The NAM has a big time swath of snow, but it&#8217;s oriented more west to east across the southern half of the state..<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=28859\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-28859\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28859\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/NAM-5.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"786\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Again, this is ONLY a computer model snowfall forecast from the NAM&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=28860\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-28860\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28860\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/NAM-9.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"802\" height=\"769\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/NAM-9.png 802w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/NAM-9-300x288.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/NAM-9-768x736.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 802px) 100vw, 802px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Canadian continues to trend north and more consolidated with the lead low into the southern Appalachian mountains&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=28856\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-28856\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28856\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/canadian-8.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"786\" \/><\/a>It would appear our old friend, &#8220;the famous northwest trend&#8221;, is back in business, for now.
