I wanted to drop by for a very quick update to show what the NAM is cooking for late Sunday into Sunday night.<\/p>\n<p>The model keeps the main snow threat across the southern half of the state, with a comma head of snow rolling due east&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=28885\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-28885\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28885\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/NAM-4-1.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"742\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the snow forecast from that particular run&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=28884\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-28884\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28884\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/NAM-3-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"730\" height=\"678\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/NAM-3-1.png 730w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/NAM-3-1-300x279.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 730px) 100vw, 730px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Do NOT take the placement and numbers as the absolute gospel. They are coming from one run of one computer model. It&#8217;s also showing snowfall and not snow depth.<\/p>\n<p>The Hi Res NAM has a similar comma head of snow rolling from west to east&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=28883\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-28883\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28883\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/NAM-3-2.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"742\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The snow map from that also targets western Kentucky, and gets more choppy the farther east it goes&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=28886\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-28886\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28886\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/NAM-4-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"767\" height=\"665\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/NAM-4-1.png 767w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/NAM-4-1-300x260.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 767px) 100vw, 767px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>All this begins as rain, then switches over to snow as dynamic cooling takes over in the comma head of precipitation. Even then, temps maybe marginal, adding to the accumulation dilemma.<\/p>\n<p>As you can see, there will be a very sharp cutoff on the northern edge of the precipitation shield.<\/p>\n<p>The Winter Storm Threat continues and I will update things in a few hours.
