Good evening, everyone. A lot of rain is on the way to the bluegrass state. leading to the potential for flooding and flash flooding. Waves of showers and storms kick in tonight and will carry us through Thursday night, putting down several inches of rain.<\/p>\n

My concern for flooding continues to grow as we get closer. The first round of heavy rain and storms will arrive later tonight and early Wednesday, with several other rounds moving in through late Thursday. This will be a widespread 1″-4″, with locally higher amounts…<\/p>\n

Earlier, I said Flood Watches should be issued ASAP, and they should have been. Unfortunately, only\u00a0the NWS out of Charleston, WV is on the same page as this. They’re the only office to issue a watch…<\/p>\n

Kudos for Charleston for doing what’s right and getting the word out on the potential for flooding. As far as the other offices, I have no idea what they are looking at or waiting on.<\/p>\n

If we look at the NAM Rainfall Forecast for tonight through JUST\u00a0Wednesday afternoon is more than enough to already have a watch out…<\/p>\n

Here’s the same run expanded through Thursday…<\/p>\n

The European Model is all in on the flooding threat, with some 5″ totals showing up through Thursday…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

All modes of flooding are possible over the next few days. From flash flooding, to river flooding to general flooding… all are on the table.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead toward Easter Weekend, a cold front drops in here Saturday night with chilly showers possible to start Easter Sunday…<\/p>\n

It’s possible for a few flakes to mix in with what, but the action may clear out of town pretty quickly.<\/p>\n

That sets the stage for a colder system showing up on Monday. Several models now bring rain and snow our way, with the European Model showing this…<\/p>\n

I’m also watching for another similar system later next week. Ugh<\/p>\n
