We continue with the Winter Storm THREAT for Friday night and Saturday morning. The early day trend among the models is now for a much weaker storm system with a slight push farther to the south and east.<\/p>\n<p>For those new to the game. this is a heads up to the <strong>POTENTIAL<\/strong> of 4\u2033 or more of snow falling in parts of our region. If confidence increases, we go to an Alert. If confidence decreases, we scrap the Threat and go along our merry way.<\/p>\n<p>Winter Storm Watches are up for much of the region&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"homepage_map\" src=\"http:\/\/maps8.pivotalweather.com\/maps\/warnings\/nwshaz.us_ov.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If we look at the forecast models, we find the NAM going from one extreme to the other. The new run puts down a few inches, mainly in the east&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=29469\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-29469\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-29469\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/NAM-5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"927\" height=\"616\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/NAM-5.png 927w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/NAM-5-300x199.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/NAM-5-768x510.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 927px) 100vw, 927px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The GFS is also lighter than earlier runs, but isn&#8217;t a wimpy as the what the NAM shows&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=29468\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-29468\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-29468\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/GFS-Snow-3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"926\" height=\"615\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/GFS-Snow-3.png 926w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/GFS-Snow-3-300x199.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/GFS-Snow-3-768x510.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 926px) 100vw, 926px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>My thoughts a more in line with what the GFS is showing and I will have a First Call For Snowfall map coming on WKYT-TV starting at 4.<\/p>\n<p>This system moves away VERY quickly Saturday morning, leaving behind a cold, but mainly dry day.<\/p>\n<p>One reason we are likely seeing a weaker trend showing up, is because the follow up system moving in by late Sunday looks stronger&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=29467\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-29467\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-29467\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/GFS-GIf-3.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"786\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That could bring another round of snow to parts of the region, to go along with a very ugly looking pattern into early next week.<\/p>\n<p>My time is short, so that&#8217;s all you get for now.
