It&#8217;s another chilly day across the Commonwealth, but a case of spring fever is about to take hold for the rest of the week. This is when temps finally take off, making it feel more like late May for a couple days. Our payback could mean some big storms by the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>In the short-term, temps today are upper 40s and low 50s. Winds are gusty with a mix of sun and clouds showing up. There&#8217;s also a small threat for a shower&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The 70s are coming for Thursday and Friday, with an 80 degree temp possible to end the week&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=29535\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-29535\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-29535\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Euro-3-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"848\" height=\"682\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Euro-3-1.png 848w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Euro-3-1-300x241.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Euro-3-1-768x618.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 848px) 100vw, 848px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Skies will stay mainly sunny, with strong southwesterly winds taking control.<\/p>\n<p>A strong storm system then revs up and rolls our way for Saturday and Sunday, bringing the potential for strong to severe storms and heavy rains. This comes courtesy of a slow-moving upper level system rolling across the Ohio Valley. The GFS model is a little faster than other models with this&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=29539\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-29539\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-29539\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/GFS-GIf-7.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"786\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Canadian matches the European Model in being slower and more potent&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=29538\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-29538\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-29538\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/canadian-4.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"786\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There is also the chance for some backlash flakes by early next week.<\/p>\n<p>High winds may become a big player and you can see the European Model showing some big gusts with a line of storms working in&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=29532\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-29532\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-29532\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Euro-2-3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"826\" height=\"658\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Euro-2-3.png 826w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Euro-2-3-300x239.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Euro-2-3-768x612.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 826px) 100vw, 826px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As mentioned, once this system rolls through, temps drop like a rock. Readings by Monday may struggle to get much past 40 degrees. That doesn&#8217;t last long, though, as another big sure of mild air pushes in ahead of the next storm system.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s going to be that kind of weather for the rest of April.
