Good afternoon, everyone. It’s a soaker of a Kentucky Derby Day across the Commonwealth, with heavy rains continuing into tonight. Once this system moves through, we focus on another thunderstorm maker moving in late Sunday, kicking off an active week ahead.<\/p>\n

Rainfall numbers will continue to climb through tonight as our slow-moving system rolls from southwest to northeast. Local 3″ rains may show up before all is said and done, leading to the potential for local high water issues. A few thunderstorms will also try to crank, especially in the east and southeast.<\/p>\n

The rain finally moves out of the state by early Sunday, but another system is dropping in from the northwest by the afternoon and evening. That touches off gusty winds and additional showers and storms…<\/p>\n

A few strong storms are possible as that system crashes in, with lingering showers into Monday. Cooler winds will blow on Monday, but that doesn’t last very long. Temps and humidity levels both jump. Throw in several systems rolling across the Ohio Valley and you can get a pretty stormy setup through next weekend…<\/p>\n

That pattern also features a rather healthy temperature gradient setting up from the Great Lakes into our region and points south…<\/p>\n

Some pretty good storm clusters tend to rumble through the temperature buffer zone.<\/p>\n
