Our hit and run clearing is about to be replaced by another round of showers and storms moving in from the northwest. That could bring a strong storm or two this evening, with a greater threat for big boomers lurking later this week.<\/p>\n<p>Temps hit the 70s ahead of a cold front dropping in from the northwest. Showers and storms increase this evening, with gusty winds and hail possible in a few of the storms&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/builder.zoomradar.net\/zoomradar_weather_map\/weather_page.php?key=9nNfA2mOMDiJ4LG\" width=\"560\" height=\"462\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" seamless=\"seamless\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/gray.ftp.clickability.com\/wkytwebftp\/WEBWATCHES.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/gray.ftp.clickability.com\/wkytwebftp\/WEBWARNINGS.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Leftover showers linger across the east on Monday, with temps coming down into the upper 60s for many. Winds will continue to be gusty.<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday turns much milder with temps making a run at 80. Humidity levels will also start to spike as we track another front our way by late Wednesday into early Thursday. This may produce strong to severe storms in our region&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=29933\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-29933\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-29933\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/GFS-4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"466\" height=\"488\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/GFS-4.png 466w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/GFS-4-286x300.png 286w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 466px) 100vw, 466px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That front may become more west to east across the region later Thursday and Friday, allowing for waves of thunderstorms to push through&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=29930\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-29930\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-29930\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/GFS-2-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"919\" height=\"984\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/GFS-2-1.png 919w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/GFS-2-1-280x300.png 280w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/GFS-2-1-768x822.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 919px) 100vw, 919px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Those storms will have a healthy temperature gradient to work with. The GFS is pushing the 80s through the Ohio Valley with 40s to the north of that. At the same time, it has 100 degree temps from Texas into western Kansas&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=29932\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-29932\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-29932\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/GFS-Temps-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"478\" height=\"489\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/GFS-Temps-1.png 478w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/GFS-Temps-1-293x300.png 293w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 478px) 100vw, 478px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That gradient should eventually crank a big storm system across the plains that would roll our way&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=29931\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-29931\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-29931\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/GFS-3-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"459\" height=\"493\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/GFS-3-1.png 459w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/GFS-3-1-279x300.png 279w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 459px) 100vw, 459px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You will also notice the model developing another subtropical looking system off the southeast coast.
