We have a summer-like day out there across Kentucky and that is in stark contrast to the frigid temps of the past week. The summer air won’t last very long as we have a setup that is looking busy over the next week and change and may have another cold shot to throw at us.

Highs today will soar into the lower 80s across most of the state. Skies will remain partly to mostly sunny with winds picking up a bit ahead of a storm system in the plains. This bad boy is responsible for the mega severe weather and tornado outbreak this week for areas to our west.

That storm will head toward the Great Lakes on Monday and will drag a cold front through here. It will have a line of showers and thunderstorms along it. Will it produce severe weather for our region? Right now… I am not expecting a whole lot in the way of strong or severe storms. That could change if the timing of the front changes a bit. It is something I will continue to watch out for.

Here is how the NAM Simulated Radar sees the line of showers and storms…

Temps will be much cooler behind the front as it pushes off to our east on Tuesday. There could be a leftover shower… especially in the east.

Temps will then climb on Wednesday and Thursday ahead of what may become a big dip in the jet stream by the end of the week into next weekend. The models have a winter look to them during this time. Here’s the GFS…

Yep… that would imply something other than rain by Sunday morning. Let’s not get too carried away by a computer model forecast from 7 days away. 😉 Regardless… That has an ugly look to it next weekend and the European Model has a similar ugliness to it…

Have a great Sunday and take care.

Good Sunday everyone.
