It&#8217;s been a very stormy day for parts of the region, with torrential rains already causing issues. This, my friends, is a sign of things to come over the next several days as a stationary front teams up with what&#8217;s left of Gordon. Then, Florence will have to be reckoned with next week.<\/p>\n<p>Showers and thunderstorms will be common Thursday into Friday as our front settles in, meeting up with the tropical air. That will fire up some strong storms that can put down tremendous rainfall numbers in a short period of time. This will lead to local flash flood issues.<\/p>\n<p>What&#8217;s left of Gordon rides into Missouri then scoots eastward into the Ohio Valley over the weekend. That will enhance the rainfall and could deliver some strong to severe storms. Here&#8217;s the GFS through early next week&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=31116\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-31116\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-31116\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/GFS-4.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"786\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The European Model is now in the fold, bringing some big rains into our region this weekend&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=31117\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-31117\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-31117\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Euro1-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"525\" height=\"709\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Euro1-1.png 525w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Euro1-1-222x300.png 222w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 525px) 100vw, 525px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As what&#8217;s left of Gordon departs, a weakness in the atmosphere is left behind. You can also see powerful Hurricane Florence approaching the east coast at the end of those maps.
