An amazing amount of rain continues to fall across the bluegrass state, leading to significant flooding issues. Several areas have picked up more than 6&#8243; of rain this weekend and more is falling. Tropical moisture and a slow-moving front are a force to be reckoned with and none of this should come as a surprise to those of you reading the blog for the past week.<\/p>\n<p>For the record&#8230; the center of what&#8217;s left of Gordon is passing tight on top of Kentucky&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-image\" src=\"http:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/Dmq_gfkXoAED2Ok.jpg:large\" alt=\"\" data-width=\"1627\" data-height=\"750\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The official forecast from the NHC for this was to always take it to near Chicago. Several models did so, too, but those are the ones I&#8217;ve talked about having big time convective feedback issues. Unfortunately, the weather community is increasingly becoming an echo chamber where everyone is forced to deliver the same\u00a0message. Not here! \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p>The heaviest rain continues to fall across central and eastern Kentucky, with an uptick in thunderstorm action taking place. Some areas will pick up another 1&#8243;-3&#8243; of rain through tonight and a few of the storms may be strong or locally severe. Still, it&#8217;s the significant flash flood threat stealing the show.<\/p>\n<p>Your afternoon trackers&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/builder.zoomradar.net\/zoomradar_weather_map\/weather_page.php?key=9nNfA2mOMDiJ4LG\" width=\"560\" height=\"462\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" seamless=\"seamless\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/gray.ftp.clickability.com\/wkytwebftp\/WEBWATCHES.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/gray.ftp.clickability.com\/wkytwebftp\/WEBWARNINGS.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Monday is a very cool day with many areas staying in the 60s. Low clouds will hang tough with a few showers around in the east and southeast.<\/p>\n<p>Scattered showers and storms return for the middle and end of the week as we focus on Florence. This hurricane is going to be a powerful one that heads toward the Carolinas. This may very well be a Cat 4 or 5 hurricane&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"coneimage\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nhc.noaa.gov\/storm_graphics\/AT06\/refresh\/AL062018_5day_cone_no_line_and_wind+png\/203346_5day_cone_no_line_and_wind.png\" alt=\"cone graphic\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The spaghetti plots from the various hurricane models are in line with that forecast&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tropicaltidbits.com\/storminfo\/06L_tracks_latest.png\" width=\"768\" height=\"801\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The European Model continues to be consistent with a NC hit&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=31188\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-31188\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-31188\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Euro-6.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"760\" height=\"491\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Euro-6.png 760w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Euro-6-300x194.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 760px) 100vw, 760px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The model continues to stall this system in the Appalachian Mountains and Mid-Atlantic, bringing a devastating flood to many, with eastern Kentucky getting in on some of the action&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=31187\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-31187\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-31187\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Euro-2-4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"836\" height=\"488\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Euro-2-4.png 836w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Euro-2-4-300x175.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Euro-2-4-768x448.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 836px) 100vw, 836px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The new version of the GFS is similar to what the European is showing&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=31189\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-31189\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-31189\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/GFS-2-5.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"786\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The soon to be replaced GFS is steal and wandering storm swept out to see by a deep trough&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=31185\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-31185\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-31185\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/GFS-7.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"786\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Canadian Model is\u00a0a cross between the old GFS and the European Model&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=31184\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-31184\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-31184\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/canadian-8.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"786\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The NAVY brings this system very far west toward our region&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=31190\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-31190\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-31190\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/NAVY.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"786\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>At this point, I&#8217;m not going to bet against. at least, some impact on our weather from Florence.
