A strong cold front is working toward the state today and will bring an increase in showers and storms by evening. Some of these storms may be on the strong side, with wet weather and cooler temps following for the rest of the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>All of this will kick off a very wet period through the middle of next week, with some serious fall temps on the way to close out September and open October. I will get to all that a bit.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s begin with today&#8217;s increase in storms. Scattered action develops this morning into the afternoon before increasing this evening. That&#8217;s when a line of showers and storms drops in and brings a low-end severe threat. Here&#8217;s the latest Severe Weather Outlook from the Storm Prediction Center&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/public\/state\/images\/KY_swody1.png\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That front then slows down right on top of the region into the weekend, bringing more rounds of rain and much cooler air into the state through Monday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=31359\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-31359\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-31359\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/GFS-20.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"786\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Heavy rain producing showers and storms continue Tuesday and Wednesday as another powerful front drops in from the northwest&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=31356\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-31356\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-31356\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/GFS-2-8.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"786\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You will also notice something spinning off the southeast seaboard. I talked about that a few days back.<\/p>\n<p>Two more systems dive into our region late next week into the following weekend. Each will bring more rain, with cold air coming in behind the two&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=31357\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-31357\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-31357\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/GFS-3-1.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"786\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Temps go MUCH colder than normal during this time, with the potential for\u00a0 an early season frost.<\/p>\n<p>Before we worry about that, I&#8217;m becoming more worried about more high water issues. All of these systems passing through here over the next week will put down a ton of rain.
