Your friendly weather dude has been sick all week and dealing with all the severe weather and will be taking advantage of a quiet day. That said… I can still throw you guys a bone about what is coming up.

– Partly to mostly sunny skies will be with us today as temps return to the 70s.
– A cold front snakes into the region Sunday with showers and thunderstorms becoming likely. A few of these may be strong or severe. Heavy rains are a good bet as well.
– This front will stall out across the region into early next week. Low pressure will then ride northeastward along the boundary in what looks like a winter time setup. This will bring heavy rain to much of the region and this may cause another round of flooding for some.
– Rainfall of 1″-3″ looks like a good bet for much of the state with locally higher amounts possible. Here is a look at the rain forecast from a couple of models during this time…

– Temps early next week look nothing short of CHILLY with a few days in the 50s. Maybe lower in the mountains?
– That storm may actually bring some snow in the highest elevations of the Appalachian Mountains!
– Nothing else has changed with my May thoughts… normal to cooler than normal. Rainfall will be above normal and the severe weather pattern will likely kick into overdrive again for mid to late month.
