We have another dreary day across Kentucky as 2019 picks up where 2018 left off. Rain is rolling into the south and east and comes at us in waves through early this weekend. This could bring another soaker to parts of the state.<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s rain is lined up from southwest to northeast and will mainly impact southern and eastern Kentucky. Outside of this region, drizzle and a few misty showers are a good bet&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.accuweather.com\/radar-large.asp?partner=netweather&amp;traveler=0&amp;site=KY_&amp;type=SIR&amp;anim=1&amp;level=state&amp;large=1#\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"jetpack-lazy-image jetpack-lazy-image--handled\" src=\"http:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" alt=\"\" usemap=\"#largemap\" data-lazy-loaded=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Thursday will find us between systems, but it&#8217;s still a pretty ugly day. I can&#8217;t rule out a shower or some drizzle with the low clouds hanging tough.<\/p>\n<p>As the next low spins right on top of us on Friday, another round of heavy rain is likely across the state. This may lead to more local high water issues.<\/p>\n<p>The GFS has a sharp cutoff to the heaviest rains on the northern side&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/GFS-Rain.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-33807\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/GFS-Rain.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1100\" height=\"803\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/GFS-Rain.png 1100w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/GFS-Rain-300x219.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/GFS-Rain-768x561.png 768w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/GFS-Rain-1024x748.png 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1100px) 100vw, 1100px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The NAM is farther north and a little more choppy&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/NAM.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-33809\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/NAM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1100\" height=\"804\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/NAM.png 1100w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/NAM-300x219.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/NAM-768x561.png 768w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/NAM-1024x748.png 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1100px) 100vw, 1100px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Low clouds and a seasonal chill is likely to remain behind that into Saturday, but temps jump back up for Sunday and Monday. That&#8217;s ahead of a cold front moving in from the northwest. That&#8217;s right, an actual cold front from the northwest is going to make it through Kentucky early next week&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/GFS.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-33808\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/GFS.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"786\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s followed by more of a northern stream influence with systems dropping into our region&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/GFS-2.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-33806\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/GFS-2.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"786\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Getting these northern stream systems is a big step in the right direction. Obviously, those bring the missing ingredient back into the equation&#8230; Cold.<\/p>\n<p>I will update things again this evening.
