DAMAGING WINDS ARE LIKELY FOR MUCH OF KENTUCKY OVERNIGHT. Gusts in excess of 80mph will be possible as this line snakes its way eastward. Southern Illiniois recoreded a wind gust of 105mph a bit earlier!!

A DANGEROUS situation is unfolding across Kentucky tonight. A line of damaging wind producing thunderstorm is working eastward and may put down isolated tornadoes as well. 7pm Update
<\/STRONG>
It is shaping up to be a long night across Kentucky!  Thunderstorms are still off to our west early this evening and will be pushing into far western Kentucky very late this evening. The severe storms will then roll eastward reaching eastern Kentucky by morning.

No time is good for severe weather… but the nighttime is the absolute worst time of the day since many people will be sleeping and not paying attention to what’s going on.  Everything is still a go for a big severe weather event for western and parts of central Kentucky. The farther east you live the smaller the threat for severe weather.

The blog will be here with you each step of the way and have updates as needed. Take care.

Previous Update

<\/STRONG>Good Tuesday everyone on what is likely to become a very busy severe weather day across the state. A major severe weather outbreak is likely today into tonight from the midwest into much of the Ohio Valley. We have the blog set up with your normal tracking tools.

Before we get to the toys… Here is a breakdown of how this may play out…

– Clusters of storms will be around into the first half of today and some of these may be strong or severe. Heavy rains will also be likely and this could cause some local high water issues.

– Skies should clear out late morning into the afternoon as temps soar into the 80s on a strong southwesterly wind.

– Thunderstorms will begin to develop across western Kentucky and roll eastward during the late afternoon and evening hours. Some of these storms may get out on their own and those will really be the ones to watch for possible tornadoes.

– This should transition toward a squall line racing eastward into the overnight hours.

– Scattered storms would then continue into early Wednesday.
