Springtime temperatures are back in the bluegrass state today, but they&#8217;re also bringing along the potential for springtime thunderstorms. A few of these storms may even be strong or severe as a cold front swings through the Commonwealth.<\/p>\n<p>The Storm Prediction Center has the much of the region in the Enhanced Risk area for severe storms:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"jetpack-lazy-image jetpack-lazy-image--handled\" src=\"https:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/public\/state\/images\/KY_swody1.png\" data-lazy-loaded=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a breakdown of the day:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A line of showers and storms works across western Kentucky very early this morning, but should diminish before it gets too far into central Kentucky.<\/li>\n<li>Another line of storms will then develop across the west during the afternoon. That will roll eastward through the evening and could produce severe storms.<\/li>\n<li>The best threat for severe weather appears to be in central Kentucky.<\/li>\n<li>Damaging winds, large hail and a few tornadoes will be possible.<\/li>\n<li>Winds are going to be a huge player through tonight as gusts can reach 50mph at times. Some power issues may develop.<\/li>\n<li>Highs today should reach the 70s across the central and east. If we can get enough sun in the east, we may flirt with 80.<\/li>\n<li>The storms end quickly from west to east this evening as colder winds blow into town.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After all this, colder weather moves in for the weekend and that may produce a shower or two Friday evening.
