2:30pm Update

<\/STRONG>Good afternoon gang. This line of severe storms is racing eastward and will continue to produce widespread wind damage across central and eastern Kentucky. A few tornadoes are also possible over the next few hours.

We have received lots of damage and injury reports from western Kentucky and I expect more of the same for the rest of Kentucky before all is said and done. Please stay alert to the latest warnings and be prepared to seek shelter.

<\/STRONG>Good morning everyone. Things are getting active in a hurry as watches are already out for western and parts of northern Kentucky.

A TORNADO WATCH is out until 4pm for the western half of the state. Here is a look at the watch and latest warnings…

A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH is out until 1pm for far northern Kentucky…

Good Monday everyone and welcome to an active weather day across the state. A strong cold front will blast through the region this evening and this front will likely produce a round of severe storms. We have set the blog up with your usual storm tracking tools.

Here is a breakdown…

– Scattered showers and storms will be possible early today across western and central Kentucky.

– A squall line of storms will come racing eastward across the state this afternoon into the evening. This will be the prime time for severe weather.

– Damaging winds will be the main threat with this line. Large hail and an isolated tornado will also be possible.

– In addition to the severe weather aspect… these storms will put down a lot of rain across central and eastern parts of the state. Up to 2″ will be possible in some areas.

– Regardless of thunderstorms… winds today into tonight will be a major player. Gusts can top 50mph at times.
