It&#8217;s Kentucky Derby Week in the bluegrass state and that means the forecast takes on a little extra significance. As we kick off the big week, summer temps are surging in here, bringing a storm or two with them. Unfortunately, storm chances increase later in the week and some of those may linger into the bigger weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Temps today warm deep into the 70s with an 80 possible in the south and west. A shower or storm may also go up as southwesterly winds usher in the warmth&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.accuweather.com\/radar-large.asp?partner=netweather&amp;traveler=0&amp;site=KY_&amp;type=SIR&amp;anim=1&amp;level=state&amp;large=1#\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"jetpack-lazy-image jetpack-lazy-image--handled\" src=\"http:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" alt=\"\" usemap=\"#largemap\" data-lazy-loaded=\"1\" \/><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Temps for Tuesday and Wednesday will feel more like Mid-Summer than the transition days from April into May&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Euro-18.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-36014\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Euro-18.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"962\" height=\"729\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Euro-18.png 962w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Euro-18-300x227.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Euro-18-768x582.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 962px) 100vw, 962px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I can&#8217;t rule out a few spots sneaking into the middle and upper 80s if they can get enough sunshine.<\/p>\n<p>A scattered shower or thunderstorm will be possible with the best chance coming Wednesday. That kicks off a rather stormy look to the pattern for Thursday into Kentucky Oaks Day Friday. I mentioned the potential for the system producing the storms to slow down and some of the models are hinting at this.
