With one more calm day ahead of us, it&#8217;s time to look ahead toward a much more active pattern. A weak system rolls in for an ugly Friday, but the main show doesn&#8217;t arrive into Monday and Tuesday. That&#8217;s a storm that unlocks arctic air.<\/p>\n<p>As we get closer to Friday, the uglier things are looking. Rain will overspread the state and that will make for some nasty conditions. Rain totals are increasing and could approach a half inch in some areas&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/GFS-Rain.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-38832\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/GFS-Rain.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"965\" height=\"757\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/GFS-Rain.png 965w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/GFS-Rain-300x235.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/GFS-Rain-768x602.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 965px) 100vw, 965px\" \/><\/a>The system moving in here early next week looks like a wild one. Rain, gusty winds, some thunder, temps near 60, a major temp crash, lows in the teens with some snows.<\/p>\n<p>The GFS seems to have the best grasp of this system&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/GFS-2-6.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-38835\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/GFS-2-6.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a>The European Model is likely dragging it&#8217;s feet too much with the initial system, but shows the major arctic blast well. It also shows another system right behind it and taking a southern route&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/EURO-1.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-38830\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/EURO-1.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a>The overall pattern continues to be skewed colder than normal across much of the country. That&#8217;s been the trend since late October and it shows no signs of letting up.
