As precipitation moves into the region late tonight and early Friday, temps will be cold enough for a touch of freezing rain to show up. This kicks off a super-active setup that takes us through the weekend into early next week. It&#8217;s one that will deliver more winter weather threats.<\/p>\n<p>The best chance for freezing rain early Friday is in the cold valleys across the east. This is something that models rarely pick up on, but we are actually seeing a few of them showing the potential&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/NAM-14.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-39103\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/NAM-14.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"972\" height=\"759\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/NAM-14.png 972w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/NAM-14-300x234.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/NAM-14-768x600.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 972px) 100vw, 972px\" \/><\/a>All it takes is a little bit of ice to cause some big travel issues. That should switch over to plain old rain as temps come up later in the morning and into the afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>A second system then works in here late Saturday with rain that can go over to a little bit of snow showing up as temps drop by Saturday evening. Here&#8217;s the NAM with both systems over the next few days&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/NAM-18.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-39102\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/NAM-18.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a>The models continue to figure out the Sunday-Monday system and the GFS is slowly correcting toward the southeast with the track of the low. It still have quite a bit of work to do, though&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/GFS-2-13.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-39106\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/GFS-2-13.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a>That will continue to come south and so will the Canadian&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/canadian-17.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-39104\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/canadian-17.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a>Once again, all modes of precipitation are possible across the area from Sunday through early Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>I will have the latest on WKYT starting at 4pm and here on KWC this evening.
