Good Friday, everyone. It’s a small taste of winter weather blowing across the region today, bringing cold winds and some snow showers. Once we get through this, we will see spring take firm control of the pattern this weekend as temps take off. Next week keeps the spring temps, but will also throw rounds of spring storms into the mix.<\/p>\n

Colder winds are blowing today and we will have some snowflakes accompanying it. The best chance for some snow showers and flurries will be across the east and southeast and that’s where some minor accumulations try to show up. The best chance is across the high ground along the Virginia border counties.<\/p>\n

Winds will be gusty and that’s going to make those upper 30s to low 40s feel MUCH colder. Bundle up.<\/p>\n

The weekend continues to look like a thing of beauty. Temps on Saturday reach 50 with a mostly sunny sky. That sets the stage for a serious spring surge for Sunday. Highs hit the low and middle 60s. Woot!<\/p>\n

As I’ve been talking about, this is a very mild pattern settling in for the long haul. Well above normal temps are also likely to be accompanied by rounds of showers and thunderstorms. This is actually a pattern that looks to persist through the rest of March and into the first part of April, at least.<\/p>\n
