Clusters of showers and storms have been rolling across the bluegrass state over the past few days and we have additional storms to come today and Friday. Our weather pattern will then turn quiet for a few days as more active weather lurks as we head into the first few weeks of October.

Our cold front continues to sink slowly southward across the region today and this means the storm threat may be just a tad farther south in the state. Any storm that blows up may contain damaging winds and large hail to go along with heavy rain and frequent lightning. Here’s the latest from the storm Prediction Center…

Watches

Possible Watches

Cooler and drier air will slowly move in for the weekend. High temps Saturday and Sunday may not get out of the upper 60s for some areas. While the weekend looks dry… we will need to keep an eye on an upper level low trying to work southward into the Ohio Valley. The GFS is getting this thing close to us by later Sunday…

The next thing for us to keep an eye on will be a possible southern storm forming early next week. That may try to lift northward toward our region at some point before the week is finished.

The next item up for bids is a recurving Typhoon in the western Pacific. This if often a signal for a trough across the eastern United States 1-2 weeks later. Sure enough… the GFS and GFS Ensembles are going in that direction.

Enjoy your Thursday and take care.

Good Thursday everyone.
