It&#8217;s a very wet pattern taking shape across Kentucky and surrounding areas over the next few days. Rounds of showers and thunderstorms are ready to rumble across the region, bringing a high water threat and much cooler temps through early August.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s begin with today&#8217;s weather and roll forward. We continue to see a scattering of showers and storms across the southern half of the state. A few may be strong and put down heavy rains. The first arrives late tonight and goes through early Friday and may dump a general 1&#8243;-3&#8243; of rain for many, with locally higher amounts.\u00a0 Another system then follows that up later Friday into the start of the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>I made this map several days ago and it looks to be in pretty good shape&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-42817\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Special-3.png\" sizes=\"(max-width: 834px) 100vw, 834px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Special-3.png 834w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Special-3-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Special-3-768x432.png 768w\" alt=\"\" width=\"834\" height=\"469\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I will get more specific on that later today. Local flooding and flash flooding is certainly possible during this time.<\/p>\n<p>You can see both of these systems and a third showing up by Monday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Euro-11.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-42885\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Euro-11.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a>Temps will be average much cooler than normal, especially afternoon highs under the clouds and rain.<\/p>\n<p>Our tropical system heading into the Caribbean continues to churn away and should reach Florida over the weekend&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"coneimage\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nhc.noaa.gov\/storm_graphics\/AT09\/refresh\/AL092020_5day_cone_no_line_and_wind+png\/152752_5day_cone_no_line_and_wind.png\" alt=\"cone graphic\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The ultimate path of this system will, obviously, have an impact on the weather across the eastern half of the country.<\/p>\n<p>Some models take this across Florida and into the Gulf, then skirting by just to our east. That&#8217;s what the EURO shows&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Euro-2-8.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-42884\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Euro-2-8.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a>The GFS takes brings this more toward our region and merges it with a slow-moving upper level low&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/GFS-22.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-42890\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/GFS-22.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a>The Canadian is the most in tact with this system and zips it just to our east, with deep trough diving in behind it&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/canadian-6.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-42889\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/canadian-6.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a>Regardless, this is a very busy setup as we roll into the first week or two of August. One that looks to feature widespread above normal precipitation.
