We have a prolonged blast of wind coming our way over the next several days as our pattern changes up a bit. A massive cut off low pressure in the upper levels of the atmosphere will slowly roll across the Ohio Valley and bring some fairly big changes with it.

The good part of the change is the weather we have out there today. Readings will warm well into the 70s on a gusty southwesterly wind. This is ahead of a strong cold front approaching the state from the west this evening. That front blows through here overnight with a line of showers and thunderstorms. There is the threat for some of these storms to become severe across the west.

Your storm tracking tools:

Watches

Click on the radar tab at the top of the page to track the showers and storms with First Alert Defender.

Wind gusts may top 40mph in some places tonight and early Thursday. Our big upper level storm will pin wheel into the Ohio Valley by Friday. This will send a couple of disturbances our way from the northwest by Friday and early Saturday. This means an increase in clouds and showers as these pieces of energy work through. The GFS is finally starting to pick up on these…

Areas getting in on clouds and showers will have a very tough time getting too far away from 50 degrees for a high temp. It’s possible some folks could see readings staying in the upper 40s… especially in the north. Winds will continue to be very gusty and that means it will feel even colder than that.

Things will finally begin to warm back up by early next week as we go into a nice little stretch of Indian Summer.

Have a great Wednesday and take care.

Good Wednesday everyone.
