It&#8217;s another dreary day across the Commonwealth as a few light rain and snow showers work across the area. Temps are on the seasonable cold side as we get set to close out the first weekend of 2021. Once into the first full week, things are still looking very active as we head into a pattern winter weather lovers are sure to like!<\/p>\n<p>As mentioned, a few rain and snow showers are showing up across central and eastern Kentucky. A few flurries will then take us through tonight. Here are your radars&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/builder.zoomradar.net\/zoomradar_weather_map\/weather_page.php?key=dlFZs5IY4VCw7bK\" width=\"560\" height=\"450\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" seamless=\"seamless\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.accuweather.com\/radar-large.asp?partner=netweather&amp;traveler=0&amp;site=KY_&amp;type=SIR&amp;anim=1&amp;level=state&amp;large=1#\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"jetpack-lazy-image jetpack-lazy-image--handled lazyloaded\" src=\"https:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" alt=\"\" usemap=\"#largemap\" data-src=\"https:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" data-lazy-loaded=\"1\" \/><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After a rather calm Monday, a clipper drops in on Tuesday with some light rain and pockets of light snow for central and eastern Kentucky&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Canadian-6.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-46493\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Canadian-6.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The next system coming Thursday into Friday is one to keep a close eye on. This is the bowling ball looking storm system that likely rolls through the Tennessee Valley, bringing rain and snow into the lower Ohio Valley and Tennessee Valley.<\/p>\n<p>As expected, the EURO is no longer diving this thing way southeast, but is now more west-east&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/EURO-6.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-46496\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/EURO-6.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Canadian has a similar thought&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Canadian-2-3.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-46492\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Canadian-2-3.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So does the GFS&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/GFS-4.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-46495\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/GFS-4.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is one of those systems likely to trend stronger and farther north as we get closer. I mean&#8230; Doesn&#8217;t every single storm system? &#x1f92a;<\/p>\n<p>We will also need to watch the system right behind this coming from the southwest in about a week from now&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/EURO-2-3.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-46497\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/EURO-2-3.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As the blocking continues to become established, the pattern grows colder with winter storms working across the country into the middle of January and likely going into February.<\/p>\n<p>The GFS Ensembles average snow map continues to grow stronger in the signal over the next 2 weeks&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/GFS-SNOW-2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-46498\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/GFS-SNOW-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"969\" height=\"756\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/GFS-SNOW-2.png 969w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/GFS-SNOW-2-300x234.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/GFS-SNOW-2-768x599.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 969px) 100vw, 969px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I will drop by for an evening update.
