Good Monday, everyone. It’s a wild weather day taking shape as we start things out with some freezing rain in the north. From there, rounds of heavy rain and a few strong thunderstorms are on the weather menu later in the day into the evening. This means we have to be on guard for local high water issues and gusty winds from storms. The system following this up is likely to bring some snow in here by Wednesday and early Thursday.<\/p>\n

Freezing rain may be an issue through early this afternoon across the north. This is where a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect. For the rest of the sate, the focus is on the threat for local flash flooding issues. Rain and thunderstorms become common as the day wears on. Heavy rainfall of 1″-3″ will be possible through early Tuesday…<\/p>\n

Again, let’s watch for flash flooding issues to develop. That’s a lot of rain possibly falling in a short amount of time.<\/p>\n

As this low pressure works right on top of us later today into tonight, it brings a surge of unstable air just ahead of it. This could fire up a few rounds of strong or severe thunderstorms. The Storm Prediction Center has much of central and western Kentucky in the low-end risk for severe storms…<\/p>\n

Damaging wind is the primary threat with any storm that goes up through tonight.<\/p>\n

The setup for Wednesday and Thursday continues to point toward a snow maker across much of the state. How much depends on the track of the low and how fast this thing moves. The GFS and Canadian are both pushing this through a little faster than before…<\/p>\n

The EURO continues to be just a little stronger with each run…<\/p>\n

The faster this zips through, the less time is has to produce snow. At the current pace of the above models, a 1″-3″ snowfall would be in order for many.<\/p>\n
