I wanted to drop by for a quick update on the rounds of showers and storms targeting the region through Thursday. This will continue to bring the threat for strong to severe storms and heavy rains to the region.

In the near-term, the greatest severe threat continues to be across western Kentucky…

Later tonight, the threat will focus a little farther north and east. Once into Thursday, the low is working right on top of us and will bring the potential for strong to severe storms to central and eastern Kentucky. With a little bit of sunshine ahead of the low, we can destabilize things enough to get some decent storms going up. There would also be a small risk for a quick spin up. Here’s the Thursday risk area from the SPC…

Some of the models are also a little more robust on the rain numbers in the south and southeast, upping the concern for some high water issues.

NAM

HI RES NAM

GFS

I will have the latest on WKYT-TV through the evening.
