Low pressure is working across the state today, bringing the potential for scattered strong to severe storms with it. Once this system passes through, chilly winds will blow into Friday, but the weekend continues to look pretty darn good.<\/p>\n<p>The severe weather outbreak on Wednesday, as expected, was to our southwest with some steady rains pulling the plug on the limited severe threat in the west.<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s severe threat continues to be confined to mainly central and eastern Kentucky as our low pressure spins right on top of us. The day starts with a few waves of showers and storms working through before some quick-hitting sunshine takes over around midday. This allows for a quick destabilization of the atmosphere and fires clusters of showers and storms. These storms may be strong or locally severe.<\/p>\n<p>The Storm Prediction Center continues to highlight central and eastern Kentucky&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/public\/state\/images\/KY_swody1.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Temps crash down behind the departing low and it may even be cold enough for a few flakes to fly across eastern Kentucky late tonight into Friday morning. Skies brighten from northwest to southeast Friday with temps on the chilly side.<\/p>\n<p>The weekend numbers climb quickly as sunny skies show up, giving us a really nice couple of days.<\/p>\n<p>Temps rise even more early next week and make a run at 70 ahead of the next thunderstorm maker arriving later Tuesday and Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>I will drop by for another update later today.
