We have a weak system dropping into the region today and it&#8217;s bringing scattered showers and storms with it. This action continues into the weekend as our steamy air continues. The setup next week continues to get more and more of my attention as a Gulf tropical system may impact our weather.<\/p>\n<p>Scattered showers and storms will be noted out there today, but not everyone sees rain. Those who do are in line for downpours. Those who don&#8217;t are in line for a lot of steam air with temps ranging from the middle 80s to low 90s. Temps are down just a bit compared to the past few days, but we stay very muggy.<\/p>\n<p>Our weekend will also feature a storm or two around as we stay steamy.<\/p>\n<p>Now, let&#8217;s get to the focus of the forecast and that&#8217;s on the tropics. In particular, it&#8217;s the storm heading toward the Gulf of Mexico over the next few days. Here&#8217;s a busy tracking map from the National Hurricane Center&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nhc.noaa.gov\/xgtwo\/two_atl_5d0.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The model trend continues to point more toward a Louisiana landfall later Sunday or Monday. From there, this would have a real chance to have a direct impact on our weather a few days later. Let&#8217;s take a look at the individual models and how they handle the storm&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The GFS takes this into Louisiana then straight toward Kentucky with heavy rain and wind arriving Monday night and Tuesday. It then spins it through here and to our east by Thursday night&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/GFS-12.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-49849\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/GFS-12.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Canadian has a similar track, but it keeps the leftovers spinning on top of us through the end of next week&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Canadian-4.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-49848\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Canadian-4.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The EURO is a Louisiana hit then brings this toward the lower Ohio Valley and Tennessee Valley&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/EURO-22.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-49851\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/EURO-22.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The above tracks would bring heavy rain and wind to the region, but it&#8217;s still fairly early in the game. The overall track of the storm can change drastically in the coming days, but this one is more than worth our tracking time.<\/p>\n<p>Once this storm clears the eastern half of the country, the EURO Ensembles have a healthy trough coming in Labor Day Weekend&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/EURO-2-10.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-49845\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/EURO-2-10.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The control run of the EURO Ensembles have an even deeper trough&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/EURO-3-1.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-49844\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/EURO-3-1.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Make it a great Thursday and take care.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Good Thursday to one and all.
