Good Monday, folks. It’s another fairly nice day across the Commonwealth, but the action is about to pick up the pace. We have a pattern that may turn things a little stormy as the week wears on and there’s even the chance for some tropical moisture from Nicholas to get involved.<\/p>\n

Let’s start things out with out storm down in the Gulf. Nicholas formed Sunday and is working northward along the Texas coast today. This may very well become a hurricane before making landfall Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Here’s the latest information and track forecast from the National Hurricane Center…<\/p>\n

This thing continues to get better organized and it’s showing up nicely on the sat shot…<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This storm will absolutely drench parts of Texas over the next few days and that is likely to become a major story.<\/p>\n

Does some of this moisture get drawn far enough north to interact with a cold front moving in here by Wednesday? That’s the million dollar question. A few of the Sunday night Hurricane Models bring that system into our region…<\/p>\n

This is also something the GFS is trying to do…<\/p>\n

Many of the other models simply bring the front through here without much interaction with Nicholas as it slowly spins well to our south and southwest. We shall see.<\/p>\n

Regardless, a pipeline of moisture may develop from our region southwest to the Gulf later in the week into the weekend, continuing the chance for some showers and storms…<\/p>\n

In addition to Nicholas, we are still watching an area off the southeast coast and another system way out in the Atlantic…<\/p>\n
