It&#8217;s Thanksgiving week and the week is starting out on a much colder than normal start, but the end of the week cold shot looks a little more interesting. That&#8217;s because it has the chance to bring some festive flakes to the region to kick off the Christmas shopping period.<\/p>\n<p>Our day starts with much colder winds blowing in from the northwest as a cold front continues to push away to our east. This front may still have a few leftover showers or high ground snowflake action with it in far southeastern Kentucky early this morning. Here are your radars to follow along\u2026<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/builder.zoomradar.net\/zoomradar_weather_map\/weather_page.php?key=dlFZs5IY4VCw7bK\" width=\"560\" height=\"450\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" seamless=\"seamless\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.accuweather.com\/radar-large.asp?partner=netweather&amp;traveler=0&amp;site=KY_&amp;type=SIR&amp;anim=1&amp;level=state&amp;large=1#\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"jetpack-lazy-image jetpack-lazy-image--handled lazyloaded\" src=\"https:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" alt=\"\" usemap=\"#largemap\" data-src=\"https:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" data-lazy-loaded=\"1\" \/><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cold winds will continue with us through Tuesday as temps run well below normal.<\/p>\n<p>They tell us that Wednesday is the busiest travel day of the entire year and the weather for it is looking good. Clouds will increase as temps make a run into the 50s as southwest winds increase ahead of our Thanksgiving cold front. This front brings a line of rain from west to east as the day wears on and it&#8217;s being pushed by another blast of cold air. Can the cold catch up to the back edge of the rain shield and give us some flakes Thanksgiving night or Black Friday morning?<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s the question of the week.<\/p>\n<p>The NAM only goes through 7am Thanksgiving morning, but you can see how the cold flips over the back edge of the rain to our west&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/NAM-10.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-51382\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/NAM-10.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"970\" height=\"763\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/NAM-10.png 970w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/NAM-10-300x236.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/NAM-10-768x604.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 970px) 100vw, 970px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s something the Canadian is showing and then it also shows another cold shot a few days later with the chance for some flakes&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Canadian-39.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-51384\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Canadian-39.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The EURO has a similar idea&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/EURO-45.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-51387\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/EURO-45.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The overnight run of the GFS looks a lot different than prior runs of the model&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/GFS-47.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-51381\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/GFS-47.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The GFS Ensembles continue to show the flake chance a little better than most models&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/GFS-2-32.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-51385\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/GFS-2-32.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once that goes through, the cold may very well relax for a bit as it reloads for later in the first week of December. The GFS actually captures this well on the overnight run&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/GFS-3-9.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-51386\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/GFS-3-9.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you guys watched my winter forecast on WKYT, you know I targeted the middle and end of December for a very cold period taking shape.
