Good afternoon, folks. A severe weather outbreak is likely tonight into Saturday morning across Kentucky and surrounding areas. This includes the potential for a few strong tornadoes across the western half of the state.<\/p>\n

The Storm Prediction Center has now placed areas of western Kentucky in the Moderate Risk for severe storms and tornadoes…<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

You can see that Enhanced Risk into central Kentucky with the Marginal to Slight Risk into the east.<\/p>\n

The tornado risk map from the SPC now shows the increasing threat in the “hatched” area…<\/p>\n

A few long tracked and violent tornadoes are possible across the western half of the state.<\/p>\n

The wind damage potential continues to be very high across much of the region…<\/p>\n

The forecast models are spitting out some 60mph+ wind gusts…<\/p>\n

As the line of severe storms pushes eastward late tonight and Saturday morning, the threat area focuses into the eastern half of the state. Here’s the SPC map for Saturday…<\/p>\n

In addition to the severe threat, local flash flooding issues will be possible with these storms. A quick 1″-3″ of rain will be possible in some areas.<\/p>\n
