A southern and eastern winter storm delivered accumulating snow to areas of southern and eastern Kentucky last night and this morning, but that system is now a thing of our past. The next system rolling in for Thursday and Friday has the look of becoming more of a widespread snow maker.<\/p>\n<p>The potential is there for this to become a significant system.<\/p>\n<p>An arctic front slides in here and puts the brakes on Wednesday night. At the same time, a system develops and rolls across the lower Ohio Valley\/Tennessee Valley along the front on Thursday. This brings an increasing swath of snow along and north of the track.<\/p>\n<p>Several models are showing just how big of a system this could be.<\/p>\n<p>The NAM only goes through 7pm Thursday, but is picking up on it well&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/NAM.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-52592\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/NAM.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Short Range Canadian also shows this well&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Canadian-6.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-52590\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Canadian-6.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The regular Canadian takes us through the entire system&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Canadian-2-3.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-52593\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Canadian-2-3.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the new EURO&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/EURO-5.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-52599\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/EURO-5.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then we have the GFS which is a world all it&#8217;s own&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/GFS-2.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-52591\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/GFS-2.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s my early threat area&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Chris-Special.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-52598\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Chris-Special.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"715\" height=\"391\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Chris-Special.png 715w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Chris-Special-300x164.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 715px) 100vw, 715px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The bias of the GFS is strong with this one as it crushes southern stream energy by being way too progressive with the northern stream. Watch this model throw a lot of people for a loop when it catches up over the next few days.<\/p>\n<p>The temps coming in behind this can be brutal.
